Below are several stories from our patients. They have agreed to share their story so others can share their relief of pain and vibrant smile.
Cindy was concerned about her front tooth that was a different color than the rest. We explained that much of the wear that is evident on her teeth comes from too much force. After looking at childhood photographs, it was evident to Cindy and our team that she had lost much of her smile.
Cindy was suffering from daily headaches with pain in her jaw. Initially, Cindy didn’t think these pains were related to her teeth. We decided to use a fixed orthotic as a prototype to see if we could help. After a week of use Cindy reported having the best sleep she’s had in years and awaking pain-free each morning. Having verified her bite and how she wanted her teeth to look, we restored both her top and bottom teeth using onlayed and veneered ceramic restorations.
Bryan was mainly concerned about his front teeth. After some discussion, Bryan told us some of his teeth were occasionally sensitive or even painful. Several were becoming loose.
When we reviewed Bryan’s medical history we found he was experiencing many problems associated with Sleep Disordered Breathing, a disorder that includes sleep apnea. After discussing the connection between his tobacco use, blood pressure, gum disease, and feeling tired all the time, Bryan decided he’d had enough. We first got Bryan’s gums and bite healthy while he stopped smoking and drinking sugared sodas. Using sedation, we then restored his teeth to a healthy bite and made Bryan a nightime sleep appliance that allows him to breathe without a CPAP. We love Bryan’s case because not only did he decide to get his mouth healthy, he used the process as an excuse to get his whole body healthy.
